Rafael Castellanos Announces Strong Fundraising Numbers, Raising Over $290,000 In First Months Of County Supervisor Campaign

Rafael Castellanos, San Diego Port Commissioner and candidate for County Supervisor, today announced his campaign has raised over $290,000 since launching, starting his campaign on a strong note and giving him the resources to win in South Bay’s first competitive County Supervisor race in decades.
Showing broad support and deep grassroots strength, over 740 people contributed to Castellanos’ campaign, with 95% of contributions coming from local Californians and an average contribution of just over $300.  In the critical measure of ‘Cash On Hand’, which shows campaign funds actually available to spend, Castellanos has amassed an impressive $261,000. For comparison, at this same juncture in 2018’s hotly contested County Supervisor race, Nathan Fletcher reported $247k in cash available and Bonnie Dumanis was at $208k, both significantly less than Castellanos’ current total.

Rafael Castellanos Announces Hope & Home Housing Plan

We need big, bold action - not half measures - to deliver the affordable housing working families in San Diego desperately need. My affordable housing plan offers hope to struggling working families and makes large-scale construction of desperately needed affordable housing possible. It includes $1 billion for neighborhood infrastructure improvements, which is the turbocharge needed to deliver tens of thousands of affordable homes throughout San Diego. If we don’t take action now, the housing crisis will continue to worsen and our workforce and kids will keep getting squeezed out of San Diego.
